Customer Reviews about Colorado Springs Police Department:

  • Even when I was a troubled youth I was always treated fairly and as I'm older person with a house and accidently set off my new home alarm, they were there within minutes and still thoroughly searched my property and checked the wife and I's well being. These are the guys you call when you're in trouble and they do a fine job. They don't need to be harassed.

I was amazed by the lack of professionalism and the fear that I was illustrated the evening of September 4th 2017. Someone had let my dog out of the yard and i was told it was spotted down in a ditch where the homeless were known to go. Out of personal saftey, and by current Colorado law I strapped on my sidearm. I wore a Brite shirt to identify myself in the dark and at any means did I have my weapon Concealed. After not finding my dog walking for several hours I saw two officers on a parking lot talking. I approached them cautiously and told them where I had been and what I was doing. After the whole conversation and me asking if they could keep an eye out for my not to be missed dog, and offering to take down my number. The officer had finally seen my sidearm. What happened next was unprofessional. I felt like I was treated like a criminal. I had not shown any sign of aggression or touched my sidearm. The officer I was directly speaking with lost all color in his face, told me to back up away from the vehicle which they had to move to address me now. They were parked driver side to driver side without enough room to react. As I was doing what was asked the officer told me to keep my hands where I could see them. The first officer got his car far enough away from the other officer who had spun around and lit me up and had approached me now with his had on his sidearm. At this time time the table changed. I felt threatened by the officer who was clearly shaking and afraid, I was scared he was going to make an uneasy decision. At this point I feared my life. To end the story, I backed off asking if he had a pen to write down my number if he saw my dog. He then went back on his word and said "not now". This is Colorado Springs finest at work. The lack of self controls and training was amazing. I shouldn't have to fear my life when in the presence of a person who serves and protects. They were already in a helpless position when I had approached.

I was involved with a traffic violation of being passed in the double solid line in a school zone. When I came across the two young girls that did this one of them decided to push me several times then they got in their car and they backed up and they hit my truck so there was a hit and run and I was standing in front of a card she decided she was going to try to run me over so I got up on the hood of her car and if she's driving away as I get off I pull out my firearm and point to her and tell her she needs to stop and she continues going. After the police got involved the next thing I know is I'm being put in the back of the car and told that I might be arrested for menacing with a firearm. Where in this f****** world can you not defend yourself when somebody's trying to kill you with their vehicle. Worst Police Department in the world.

What can I say about the CSPD that hasn't already been said about Syria or Iraq. A little over a month ago my home was broken in to and we were robbed of about 5000.00 dollars worth of items "some irreplaceable family items". I thought well luckily I spoke with a few neighbors and got vehicle plate number and vehicle description and description of the person visual taking stuff from my home and the cspd should open and shut find the guy. Well needless to say that didn't happen! I contacted the non-emergency line to file a report. While speaking in calm and collective manner trying to tell the dispatcher what had happened and what I had found out she abruptly cut me off and said "let me stop you right their for a minute" and continued to tell me that their was nothing they could do and that I could file a report online but it wouldn't do any good and an officer might be in touch but don't expect and anything. I calmly contiued to try to see if they would just get a police drive by or anything to just show some support from them but she just said all we can do is what i just told you to do " in a hateful and aggressive demeanor. I felt betrayed and helpless. Well since then numerous other neighbors houses and vehicles have broken into and all of them received the same effort from the cspd. We all live directly across the street from an elementary school Wilson elementary to be exact and everyone has officially gotten fed up with the lack of support and empathy that cspd has and hasn't given us. Now all of my neighbor's including myself have started to arm ourselves in hopes to make things better"which it will not". So thanks to your lack of support a great neighborhood is and has transformed into scared and armed neighbors with itchy trigger fingers. I myself spent the last 10 years army infantry with numerous deployments to Afghanistan. I have first hand seen the repercussions of what firearms can do and didn't want to personally own one. But thanks to you so called police officers I've been left with no choice but purchase one and violate my personal ethics to protect my family. You should be ashamed of yourselves and the oath you took and refuse to defend. You should change your motto from serve and protect to patronize and annoy. I hope at least 1 police officer reads this and takes it to heart. But I'll probably be just disappointed again. Sincerely A helpless law abiding citizen
